How do I get to Lukla to start the trek?
Flights run multiple times daily between Kathmandu and Lukla, taking around 30 minutes or Ramechhap its take 20 minutes . During high season however you may have to drive five hours from Kathmandu to Ramechhap airport to catch your Lukla flight there.

It’s also possible to fly or drive to Phaplu and walk two days to Lukla from there, or walk from Shivalaya to Lukla in six/seven days as an excellent per-trek warm-up.

Do I need any permits?
You will need to buy an Everest region permit (US$20)  or 2000 Nepali rupees at Lukla, as well as a Sagarmatha National Park entry ticket (US$30) 3000 Nepali Rupees at Monjo. Currently that’s all you need.

How much does the Everest Base Camp trek cost?
For a room in a lodge and three meals a day, figure on US$25–230 per person per day, a bit more if you want a room with a private bathroom and the occasional slice of apple pie. Add on another US$4/7 every time you want a shower. Figure on an additional US$25 per day for a porter, and US$30–40 for a guide, and budget 10–15% of that fee for an end-of-trip tip.

You’ll pay a bit more to have a Kathmandu-based trekking company arrange your entire trek, and a lot more for the convenience and backup of an international trekking tour.

Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft): 9km, 5 – 6 hours
Day 08: Dingboche: Acclimatization
Day 09: Dingboche to Duglha (4,600 m/15,090 ft): 4km, 3 – 4 hours
Day 10: Duglha to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft): 4km, 2 – 4 hours
Day 11: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5170 m/16,961ft), visit Everest Base Camp (5364 m/17,594 ft): 13km, 6-7 hours
Day 12: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft) to Pherice (4,288m/14,070ft): 16km, 7-8 hours
Day 13: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,280 ft): 20km, 6 – 7 hours
Day 14: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860m/9,186ft): 19km, 6 – 7 hours
Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu
Day 16: Final departure
