Your guide to hiring a guide for trekking in Nepal Before I even arrived in Nepal I was worried about both trekking and finding the right guide and Porters. Knowing the difference between a guide and a porter-guide is important It’s not easy to know what to expect when you arrive in Nepal, or even from home when planning a trek. From online tour companies claiming the world to confusing forums, there is a lot of information out there. This page will help you with answers to the questions I had before arriving.

Note: Guide/Porter prices are the same if you are 1 person or 2 0r 3 people ( 2 Max ) – so if you are 1 you pay the price per day below – if you are 3 you can divide it by 3 – Easy and Cheap! All prices are in dollars.
The fixed day price rate includes the Guide salary, their food and their accommodation insurance and Trekking gear. The Guide transportation is extra as quoted ( the same applies to Porters ). If you want the guide to organize air or bus tickets and do things in Kathmandu pre-departure then it will cost you another day or two in his/her salary depending on what you need doing. In addition to the Guide price, you need to pay your National Park entry, food and accommodation, and transport fees as well.

Kanchenjunga Trek Permit

You will need a special restricted permit for Kanchenjunga. Also, a KCAP entry permit is needed. A printed copy of passport size photo, original passport with at least six months of validity, minimum of two trekkers, and authorized agency can’t be avoided

a. Manaslu Region From September to November US$ 70 per week per person and after 7 days US$ 10 per day per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency. From December to August US$ 50 per week per person and after 7 days US$ 7 per day per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
b. Areas of Chhekampar and Chunchet VDC (Sirdibas-Lokpa-Chumling-Chhekampar -Nile-Chhule Area) From September to November, per person US$ 35 for first 8 days and from December to August per person US$ 25 for first 8 days or equivalent convertible foreign currency
4 MUGU DISTRICT
Areas of Mugu, Dolpo, Pulu, and Bhangra For the first 7 days US$90 per person and after 7 days US$ 15 per day per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
5 MANANG DISTRICT
Areas of Nar and Phu From September to November, US$ 90 per week per person and December to August US$ 75 per week per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency.

11 BAJHANG DISTRICT

(Areas of Kanda, Saipal and Dhuli) For the first 7 days, US$ 90 per person and After seven days US$ 15 per day per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
12 DARCHULA DISTRICT

(Areas of Byas VDC) For the first 7 days, US$ 90 per person and after 7 days US$ 15 per day per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
Note:a. To get a group trekking permit an application form with other relevant documents should be submitted through any registered trekking agency of Nepal.
b. Trekking fee can be paid in Nepalese currency: Notwithstanding anything written in above, the Indian citizen can pay in Nepalese currency equivalent to US Dollars.

How much does a guide cost during Nepal and Hiking?

Who is trekking guide?
