Annapurna Sanctuary Trek | ABC Trek Overview

The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is one of the very famous adventure treks for the national and international tourists due to its closeness to Annapurna Massif. It is an enchanting and easy graded trekking adventure in the untouched nature of Annapurna Region of Western Nepal. The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a protected region for conservation and preservation of nature which take place in the 7693 sq km. Nature plants life and settlements of inhabitants in the Annapurna preservation area are unspoiled and protected from developments and are still living their traditional lifestyle. How long does the Annapurna base camp trek take?

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek ( 4131M) takes 6 to 12 days, depending on your itinerary and length of walking days. The itinerary presented here takes 10 days, ( Pokhara-Nayapul-Ghorepani-ABC- Ghandruk- Nayapul) starting from Nayapul (a 1 1/2 hour drive from Pokhara) and going north up to Ghorepani and the famous viewpoint at Poon Hill.
From Ghorepani 2780m you go eastward to Chomrong 2100m and then north again entering the Modi Kola Valley which leads up to the ABC.

How do I get from Kathmandu to Annapurna base camp (ABC)?

First falls drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara it takes 5/6 hr by tourist bus and others transports and Pokhara to Naya Pul it takes 2 hr .So Nayapul is the starting point of the most of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek ( Abc trek ). Local transportation (bus) is available from Pokhara to get to Nayapul. It takes about 2 hours to reach Nayapul from Pokhara. However, if you are starting your trip from Kathmandu, you can either drive, or fly to Pokhara it takes 20 to 22 minutes

On the lower regions of the Annapurna Base camp Trek (ABC  trek), the weather is generally warm. The days have an average temperature of 15/18 degrees Celsius. The nights are slightly colder at -3 -6 degrees Celsius.

Best time to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek 2020

There are two main seasons for trekking/hiking in Nepal. The first is in late September – November when the weather is dry and warm. The second is the start of spring from March- May when it can be wetter but flowers are in bloom. We did the Annapurna Base Camp trek in mid-April and had some afternoon rain on sometimes but also completely sunny days.

After you reach Kathmandu, Nepal Planet Treks Team’s representative will transfer you to a hotel and we’ll explore some plans and preparation for the trek. We’ll also visit some religious places at the Kathmandu for relaxation.

Early in the morning, after having breakfast you will come to the airport to take a flight for Pokhara. After 25 minutes of your flight, our guide will receive you in the Pokhara and you need to drive around 1 hour to reach Nayapul. Your trek will start from Nayapul, after 15 minutes short walk you will reach Birethanti (1,065m) through the bank of the Modi Khola. There you will see a large village with verities of shope then you will continue your trail through the north bank of the Bhurung Khola, from where you will climb up steadily up to the side of the Hill valley at the altitude of 1,495m. Then you will reach Tikhedhunga (1,525m).

In this day, your destination will be towards Ghorepani, which is situated at the altitude of 2775m. During your journey, you will see a large Magar Village in the Ulleri and also you will get chances to enjoy greenery forests of oak and beautiful rhododendron flowers. And then your trail will continue through Banthanti (2250m) and Nangaethanti, then finally, around 1-hour walk you will reach Ghorepani. Ghorepani is the famous place for the stunning sightseeing, there you will enjoy with the breathtaking views and our guide will manage the best hotel for you to have amazing traditional Magar food.

In the 4th day, you will get up early in the morning and before having your breakfast, you will start your hike to Poonhill. Poonhill is the best place for the sunrise view and different panoramic Himalayan view such as; Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna South, Mt. Annapurna I, Mt. Fishtail, and many more. After having stunning mountain views you will return back to Ghorepani and you will have a hot and delicious traditional food in the hotel. Again you will continue your trek to Tadapani then you will stay overnight in the Tadapani guest house.

In this day, your trek destination will be towards Chhomrong, where you will have to walk steep downhill throughout the beautiful forest until you will reach Gurujung, the village of specially Gurung people. You will continueyour trek to the Chhomrong where you will have a famous and delicious Pizza and you will spend the whole night in the guesthouse over there.

In the 6th day, early in the morning, after having breakfast you will trek towards Dovan. During your trek, you will see Chhomrong Khola where you can enjoy the waterfall over there and you will continue your trek climbing to Khud Ghar which is situated at the altitude of 2380m. Finally, after a short walk from Khud Ghar, you will reach Dovan.

In this day, your trek destination will be the Deurali. During your trek, you will enjoy beautiful forest of rhododendron. You will stay overnight in the Deurali with special native food.

In the next morning, you will begin your trek from Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp. Machhapuchhre Base Camp is very famous for its wilderness experience and captivating views of Annapurna mountain ranges including Machhapuchhre, Gangapurn, Himalchuli and many others peaks. Wildlife and natural greenery make Machhapuchhre Base Camp Trekking lively, where you will get chance to immerse in nature and cultural lifestyle of the local ethnic groups of people. So many tourists/trekkers are realizing that this is one of the perfect choicesfor them. After having around 2 hours trek you will reach Annapurna Base Camp, where you can enjoy sunset view and you will stay overnight there.

In this day, you will explore the beautiful Annapurna Base Camp Valley early in the morning to view the wonderful mountain ranges and again you will return back to Dovan.

In this day, you will trek to the Jhinu Danda, where you can enjoy the evening with the view of sunset especially in the hot spring

In the 11th day, you will get an opportunity to enjoy the view of wonderful waterfalls, landscape, Annapurna South, Himchuli, fascinating fishtail and many more throughout your trek to Pothana.

This is the final day of your trek that takes us back to Pokhara. Early in the morning, you can enjoy the views of sunrise, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre,and countryside. After having breakfast, then you need to walk downhill around 2 hours to reach Phedi. After half an hour drive from Phedi to Pokhara through beautiful forest and green valleys, you will finally end your trek.

The next day, after the breakfast in the morning, we’ll drive back to Kathmandu. You can have a rest and shortly look after all the snaps that you captured along the trek. We’ll stay overnight in Kathmandu.

This is the time to say goodbye and your final departure ( Nepal Guide Info ). Where you will leave all the beautiful moments and natural scenarios of the tour. A representative will help you to depart towards your final destination.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek or Annapurna Sanctuary Trek (ABC) is one of the most popular short to medium length treks in Nepal. Altitude is rarely a problem on this trek though there are plenty of close-up mountain views. The trek itself is not particularly strenuous. Though being in good shape will of course help. The first few days of the trek involve uphill trekking which is the hardest part. Passing through Gurung villages and Magar Village  , lush forests and shrubs. The Annapurna Base Camp trek offers a great blend of scenery over a relatively easy trail leading to spectacular scenery.
