Introducing Bardia National Park Tour and Travel
Untouched by the 2015 earthquake, Bardia National Park is the largest national park and wilderness area in the Terai and has excellent wildlife-watching opportunities. Bardia is often described as what Chitwan was like 30 years ago, before being overrun by tourism. The park protects 968 sq km of sal forest and grassland, and together with the 550 sq km Banke National Park it protects one of Asia’s largest stretches of tiger habitat. The tiger numbers are increasing after their demise during the Maoist insurgency.

As well as tigers, there are also healthy populations of wild elephants and one-horned rhinos among the 30 species of mammals living here. The rhinos were re-introduced from Chitwan starting in 1986 in a bid to extend their range to help conserve the species. Unfortunately the early progress was all but lost when poachers took advantage of the insurgency and the population was decimated. Today the population is slowly recovering, with 31 being counted in 2014.

Bardia also has more than 250 species of birds, including the endangered Bengal florican and sarus crane. Gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles and Gangetic dolphins are occasionally spotted on rafting and canoe trips along the Geruwa River, the eastern channel of the Karnali River

Bardia National Park suffered greatly during the Maoist insurgency. Tourism dried up, lodges were mothballed and the wildlife was hit hard by poaching owing to inadequate protection. The good news is that all this is now being reversed, and while it’s a long, arduous journey out here, it’s well worth the effort.
And there’s always the rare chance that you can see the elusive freshwater Gangetic dolphins that inhabit the rivers. All of these activities are included in your jungle package.
Included in all of our jungle packages is transportation. Tourist buses, private transportation, and airline flights are available for both Chitwan and Bardia National parks. We highly recommend flying to Bardia because the bus ride from Kathmandu can take over 15 hrs on a rough road. Chitwan is 5-6 from Kathmandu on a bus. All transportation to the lodges inside the park will be provided. Nepal guide info team organized bed hotel and service there

Best time to visit bardia national park Visit:

The best season to visit the Bardiya Park is from March to June. Though the temperatures are highest during that period (up to and exceeding 42°C), it’s the best time of year to see animals (especially tigers) since a lack of water in the jungle drives them to predictable watering holes, and tall grass and other foliage is at a minimum. The rainy season is from July to September.

How to Get there
There are buses from both Pokhara(~12hrs) and Kathmandu(~17hrs) directly to Bardia or to Nepalgunj which is another couple hours by bus from the entrance of the park. Buses from Nepalgunj and other surrounding cities just going by the park can drop you at Ambassa/Aambassa which is another 16km away from the entrance, but any hotel will come pick you up there for free. You can ask to be let off at Kohalpur from buses headed to Nepalgunj and then get a bus from there to Ambassa or directly to the park entrance if you’re lucky. You can fly to Nepalgunj and then follow the instructions above for getting to the park. Hiring a private taxi from Nepalgunj to the park entrance is also possible.
